Do you prefer when subbers or dubbers make the tranlations exact, or when they make it sound good?

Example:
Fullmetal Alchemist Opening Sub: "We belived that to be the truth of the world when we were young"

COMPARED TO

Fullmetal Alchemist Opening Dub: "In those days, we belived that to be the world's one, and only, truth"

Ahh.....I knew it would happen sometime...LET THE SUB/DUB WARS BEGIN!

This is a feud every anime fan gets into, and truth is, neither is better. Its all personal preference. Subbing makes you read and you can't concentrate on the animation, dubbing screws up the words.

I myself like watching anime dubbed, but with subtitles. That way i ca hear and understand, and see what the original dialouge said.

I also noticed that more detail goes into the sub (Japanese original dialouge) and the American dub seems to dumb it down like Japanese-" The computer has been coruptted by a malware file!" English-"We got a virus!" And its also fun seeing how much the translators screwed up the original meaning. Thing that annoyed me the most was in Blue Seed. Whenever the girls back was turned to a monster, they felt they need to add in a scream. And one character, Kaede, was called Katie! Jeez! Shes a twin to Momiji Fujimiya, and they call her Katie?? Dosent sound Japanese to me... (BTW Its pronounced Kai-a-day)

SO in the end its all just personal preference. But what does everyone else like?
